French Toast

What is needed:

Large Wisk

Medium Bowl

9" x 11" glass baking dish

Plastic wrap

Large tefelon skillet

Plastic spatula

Ingredients:

7- 8, 1 1/2" slices stale bread

2 cups eggnog

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 stick butter

Powdered sugar or maple syrup

In medium bowl add eggnog, eggs, and cinnamon. Whisk until all ingredients are mixed well. Place your bread slices in the glass baking dish. Pour eggnog mixture over bread. Cover with plastic wrap. Put in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour turning bread slices at least one time. Can also be prepared the night before.

Put skillet over a medium high flame. Add one tablespoon butter to skillet and melt. Place 3 slices of eggnog bread into the skillet and brown on both sides. Remove to a plate. Add additional butter to skillet and brown remaining bread slices. Serve warm with remaining butter, powdered sugar or maple syrup.

Serving suggestions:

Serve with sausage or bacon, fresh fruit, and assorted juices.

Helpful Hints:

Use stale bread, not fresh. The reason, fresh bread has moisture and adding more moisture with the eggnog mixture will just make mush. The stale, dry bread will absorb the eggnog mixture perfectly. Some good bread choices are Italian, country white, sourdough, ciabatta.

If you don't have eggnog on hand, milk will do. Add an extra 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 teaspoon pure vanilla to mile and egg mixture.
