Getting Organized <

Closet Organization

Getting anything in or out of the closet can sometimes be a challenge.  A closet can be a great place to put just about everything and close the door.  Before you know it, it's overflowing with things.  A closet can be a Spring cleaning opportunity.  Bring it all out and go piece by piece.  What is trash, what is salvageable, and what do you still want to keep.  Even though it's no longer winter time, donation centers are always in need of outerwear.  So, make a donation pile and take it over to your local donation center.  Mix-matched gloves?  No worries.  Purchase a small storage bins from the discount store and place them in there.  Use those gloves for times when you don't want to ruin your good ones.  Purchase several other storage bins for matched gloves, scarves, miscellaneous items, and for organizing all the other closets in your home.  If you have a shelf in the closet, place the filled binss up on the shelf.  If you don't have a shelf in the closet, line them up up against the inside wall of the closet for easy access.  To organize backpacks, purchase 'S' hooks and place in the center on the hanging rod.  This way, backpacks can be easily hung up and still have easy access to hanging outerwear.  Purchase durable hangers for coats and jackets to prevent them from falling off onto the floor.

For the other closets in your home, use the same technique of going through everything.  If you have not used it in the last six months, consider throwing it away or donating it to your local donation center.  They are always looking for gently used sheets, towels, and travel size soaps and shampoos.  For items that you want to keep, organize them in the purchased storage bins.  Store items by type so you easily know when items need replenished and it will make it easier to find what you are looking for.
